Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors) defies Sgt. Carter’s (Frank Sutton) orders when he smuggles a cat aboard a naval vessel during manuevers.
Cat Co-Star: Henrietta is an orange tabby which finds her way onto the marine base and into the care of animal lover Gomer.
Defying orders to get rid of the cat, Gomer brings Henrietta aboard a naval ship during three weeks of maneuvers, leading to some tense moments when Chief Petty Officer Simpson (Tige Andrews) threatens to throw all “contraband” overboard. In the end Gomer’s reckless action in bringing the cat is explained when it turns out Henrietta is pregnant. The final scene shows Henrietta with her kittens in a box (their eyes are not even open!)
Final Mewsings: Cats and kittens can melt even the hardest of hearts.
