Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: While Gary (Michael Rapaport) prepares to ask Phoebe to move in with him and most of the others get wrapped up in a ball-throwing game, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) buys an expensive cat.
Featured Feline: Rachel first shows her purchase of a Sphynx cat to Ross (David Schwimmer) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc). The two of them react with shock, Joey insisting throughout the episode that it is not a cat. This is sadly the main running joke throughout the episode.
Rachel explains that her grandmother had a Sphynx cat and she loved it and so she was willing to spend $1000 on Mrs. Whiskerson.
Later Rachel shows up covered with scratches and says the cat is out of control. The next time she shows up with the cat she is wearing oven mitts.
Rachel tries to sell Mrs. Whiskerson on the street.
One woman offers to take the cat but not so much when Rachel asks her for $1000.
In the end Gunther (James Michael Tyler) buys Mrs. Whiskerson back for more than Rachel paid for her, but he doesn’t even know what kind of animal she is.
The cat actor was trained by Benay’s Bird and Animal Training.
Final Mewsings: Poor Sphynx cats deserve better media representation.
