Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Sarah (Nicole Brydon Bloom) moves to Los Angeles and finds what appears to be the perfect apartment complex full of friendly neighbors. But there is a dark secret behind the idyllic community.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): When asked if she has any pets by the manager (Taylor Nichols) she answers no. But back at the cheap hotel where she is staying we soon learn she has an adorable ginger tabby cat named Giles.
Sarah argues with her father on the phone then looks to Giles, who is being especially cute.
Most of the scenes involving Giles don’t actually show the cat, like when she Sarah sneaking him into the complex in a covered laundry basket. Or when she hears odd noises in the apartment. We do see Giles on the couch when someone slips a note under Sarah’s door. It is a copy of the No Pet rules with a nasty note at the bottom saying, “Some people are allergic, you selfish bitch!” Sarah looks worriedly at Giles.
Kitty Carnage Warning! This should have been a good hint for Sarah to move or at least rehome Giles, as the next time she sees her kitty he is burnt to a crisp in her red hot oven.
The cat actors (it appears that two different tabbies played Giles) were not credited (although they could have been the Dexter team). The cat was dubbed “One Take Giles” by the filmmakers because he was such a good actor. They were provided by Performing Animal Troupe and trained by Cathy Pittman. The IMDb credits list the cat trainer as Claire DorĂ©.
Final Mewsings: Don’t sneak your cats into creepy no-pet apartment buildings!
