Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: In this sequel to 2 Days in Paris, Marion (Julie Delpy) has left Jack and met Mingus (Chris Rock), another single parent, and they get along well until Marion’s kooky relatives arrive from France.
Featured Feline: Jean Luc the cat is also back, having returned to New York with Marion, and is now living with her and Mingus. The first time we see him, Jean Luc interrupts the couple’s lovemaking by hacking up a hairball.
Marion’s father, sister and her sister’s boyfriend arrive and stay in their apartment. When Marion’s dad, Jeannot (Albert Delpy) is going to bed he sees Jean Luc on the bed and coddles up to the cat, saying how he must now feel neglected with the baby in the house. Marion assures him the cat is well loved.
Jean Luc is only seen a couple of times after this, once sitting next to Jeannot as Mingus worries about where Marion is.
Then again when Marion finally comes home.
Jean Luc is also seen in a photograph with Marion at her gallery showing.
As in the first film, Jean Luc is played by Julie Delpy’s own cat Max. Delpy explained in one interview that Max was 17 years old at the time the film was made.
Final Mewsings: Cats will do anything to make sure they have your attention.
