Directed by: John Frankenheimer
Synopsis: Harry Mitchell (Roy Scheider) gets caught having an affair by blackmailers who become increasingly ruthless, even threatening his wife Barbara (Ann-Margret).
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Barbara has a beautiful bicolor tabby cat whom she only refers to as “Sweetheart” while giving her food in an early scene.
The cat is also sitting on the bed with Harry and Barbara as he questions her about one of the blackmailers.
The cat is a true scene-stealer, even drawing attention with a foot and tail while not the focus of the shot!
Barbara is playing solitaire and at one point the cat puts a paw down near the cards, looking almost as if she is suggesting a play.
The cat has one more appearance in a nighttime scene.
Barbara turns on the bedside lamp and gives the cat a kiss before getting up. The cat is not seen again.
Final Mewsings: Cats prefer Solitaire to 52 Pick-Up.
