by Linda Kay
Directed by: Adrian Lyne
Synopsis: Based on the steamy yet shocking memoir by Ingleborg Day (aka Elizabeth McNeill). Art gallery coordinator Elizabeth (Kim Basinger) starts having an impersonal sexual relationship with Wall Street bigwig John (Mickey Rourke) whose main kink is domination.
Kitty Cameos: Elizabeth owns an adorable white Persian cat who enters the room while John is visiting.

As soon as John turns on a bright lamp, kitty exits the room again.

While Elizabeth and John are being chased by thugs through some seedy New York streets, a ginger tabby cat is shown with a rat in its mouth.

Elizabeth visits the remote home of the reclusive Farnsworth (Dwight Weist), an elderly artist who is the subject of her gallery’s exhibit. A helpful tuxedo cat leads her to where the man is sitting alone on a wooded lane.

The cat lies down near them as they talk.

Elizabeth’s Persian cat appears once more after she spills water all over the floor after watering her plants.

In addition there is a shot of a painting of a man with cat features (by artist Brad Holland who passed just recently). In another scene a female hooker makes cat-like sounds while fondling Elizabeth.

Final Mewsings: Cats don’t let anyone dominate them.
