Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Phil Blackwood (Tom Selleck) is a successful pulp mystery thriller writer in a slump until he finds inspiration in accused murderess Nina Lonescu (Paulina Porizkova), a Romanian student who could either be the love of his life or his killer.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Well into the film, Phil is at his brother’s home with Nina who is cooking dinner for everyone. As she walks out of the kitchen, leaving her casserole behind, Phil notices an adorable multi-colored tabby sniffing at the pot. He throws a dishrag at the cat named Beeswax, telling him to get away from the food. The rag does not actually hit the cat.
Phil sets Beeswax down on the floor but then begins to feel sorry when Beeswax looks up at him.
Phil puts some of the casserole in a bowl for Beeswax and then carries him to the area by the back door to eat it.
Kitty Carnage Warning! Later the guests are all eating dinner and agree they want more. Phil walks into the kitchen to get more then notices Beeswax laying on the floor by the bowl.
When Phil walks over and kneels down he finds Beeswax is completely stiff. He then believes Nina poisoned their food and the whole dinner party rushes off to the emergency room to have their stomachs pumped. When they return a neighbor stops them to explain that their cat must have been chasing a mouse and run into the fuse box, electrocuting itself, as his wife found him in her basement and left him inside the back door rather than disrupt the dinner party.
Final Mewsings: Only cats in bad movies run into fuse boxes and kill themselves.
