Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Edie (Jennifer Tilly) and Pen (Stockard Channing) are two very different women who meet after filing for divorce in Reno only to find they have more in common than they thought.
Kitty Cameo: After her divorce is finalized, Edie passes by a psychic shop and stops in. A ginger tabby cat is cleaning itself on a table in the middle of the room.
After ringing a bell loudly, the psychic named Maude (Joanna Gleason) enters and asks Edie what she wants. Edie wants a reading so Maude invites her to sit down.
As Maude sits she picks up the cat named Milton from the table and lets it jump down to the ground, reacting as the cat’s tail swipes her face. A moment later she picks up a deck of black tarot cards covered with cat fur. She blows the fur off and sighs, “Oh Milton, shame on you!”
Milton is not seen again, although at the end of the scene a woman enters the shop with her dog on a leash and Maude warns her “There’s a cat in here!” We hear the cat cry out in response to the dog.
Final Mewsings: Cats of psychics should know when a dog is coming.
