Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: When a wealthy wife named Lucille Ainsworth (Ursula Howells) is murdered, there are plentiful suspects amongst her many lovers.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): One of the suspects is Gilbert Morgan (Carl Bernard), the business manager for Lucille’s husband Robert (Griffith Jones). Detective Inspector Marshall (Ewen Solon) questions Gilbert in his office and asks how he came to have a scratch on his hand. Gilbert stoops down and opens a basket on the floor which reveals his Siamese cat named Sasha.
“She’s no business here at all but she refuses to stay at home,” Gilbert explains as he lifts Sasha into his arms. The cat sneezes, probably from the smoke of the actor’s cigarette. “She must hear a lot of things,” Detective Marshall surmises. “She does,” Gilbert confirms, “But she’s unable to repeat them, Inspector.”
Later in the film Gilbert meets with Robert and decides it’s best to leave the country. He hands Robert Sasha’s basket and asks if he will watch her for him. After Gilbert leaves, Robert opens the basket and lifts the meowing Siamese to cradle in his arms.
Final Mewsings: Cat actors prefer a smoke-free set.
