Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The Sanderson Sisters, Winifred (Bette Midler), Mary (Kathy Najimy) and Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) are accidentally summoned by two teenage girls, Becca (Whitney Peak) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), who must think of a way to stop the marauding witches.
Kitty Cameo: Because Thackary Binx, the boy the Sisters turned into a black cat, featured so prominently in the first film one might have hoped he would somehow return for the sequel. But since his storyline was pretty much completed in that movie he only appears briefly in a flashback scene.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): A man named Gilbert (Sam Richardson) has opened a magic and novelty shop in the Sanderson Sister’s old home and owns a black cat named Cobweb who first appears perched on top of the glass case holding Book.
Cobweb then drops in front of Izzy and Becca in a classic Spring Loaded Cat moment.
Izzy pets Cobweb then sets him down on the floor.
When the Sanderson Sisters arrive in their old home and confront Gilbert they are shocked at the sight of the black cat.
Naturally they assume the cat is Thackary Binx come back to life. Winifred prepares to zap the poor animal.
Gilbert explains the cat is his but they do not pay attention to him so he distracts their attention by finding the hourglass they are looking for.
Later when Becca is looking for the hiding place of Book, Cobweb indicates the shelf where Book is sitting.
Cobweb watches as Book tries to get away from Becca.
Finally Cobweb watches as Book flies through a window after being summoned by Winifred.
Stay tuned after the end credits because Cobweb returns with a tease for another possible sequel!
The animal trainer on the film was Larry Madrid.
Final Mewsings: As much as we love black cats, Cobweb would have been a great name for a white cat!
