Directed by: Kitty Green
Synopsis: Based on the documentary Hotel Coolgardie. Canadian friends Hanna (Julia Garner) and Liv (Jessica Henwick) find themselves short of cash during their trip to Australia so they agree to work at a pub in a remote Outback mining town, not realizing the disturbing environment they are walking into.
Kitty Cameo: When the girls first arrive at The Royal Hotel where the pub is located, they climb the back stairs to their room, walking around a ginger tabby cat reclining on one step.
This or another ginger tabby (this one with some white markings) partakes of a passed out woman’s meal on the bar as Liv cleans up after a busy night.
The cat makes only one more appearance after one of the regular patrons nicknamed Teeth (James Frecheville) is rejected by Liv. As he sulks out of the bar, another patron lifts the cat and offers it toward Teeth with the brilliant line, “Here’s some pussy for ya!”
The animal wrangler on the film was Karen Macey-Mort.
Final Mewsings: Pussy jokes keep cat actors gainfully employed.
Many thanks to Bogusia Szewczyk for letting us know about the cat in this film.
