Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Based on the short film of the same name. Howard (Kevin Sean Michaels) is a struggling aspiring screenwriter whose frustration with the Hollywood system (and life in general) grows as he tries to get his film Space Cats greenlighted.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Early in the film Howard finds a black cat on his front porch and brings the kitty inside.
He names the cat Blue (the name of the cat in the short film, although that Blue was actually a blue cat!).
An inkling of the strangeness to come is foreshadowed when Howard receives a phone message from Blue.
Some of Blue’s scenes involve the cat looking adorable and talking in voice over to Howard.
In other scenes Howard is playing with the cat while talking about being a writer.
Howard finds himself trapped in a video with a dreaded “Kartrashian” named Kendra (Iliyana Apostolova) as videos of cats fly through the space background.
Howard continues to share his dreams and thoughts with Blue. Imagine his surprise when Blue suddenly disappears and is replaced by a woman (Katt Balsan) wearing cat ears and a tail. Somehow Blue has turned into a woman!
The feline Blue was played by cat actor Phantom and was featured on the posters for the film.
Final Mewsings: Cats, like writers, have vivid imaginations.
Many thanks to Mark Murton for letting me know about the cats in this film.
