It’s clear that Mrs. Felson is deaf as she realizes that Tarzan has been chewing on her hearing aid and thus has spared her from listening to Fred’s attempts at playing Für Elise on the piano.

Later in the film Fred witnesses Mr. Devlin, the man who mysteriously took over Mrs. Felson’s job and moved next door to Fred, burying something in his back yard with Tarzan attending, leading Fred to believe the man killed Mrs. Felson to steal her cat. No explanation is ever given as to what actually happened to Mrs. Felson or why the cat was with Mr. Devlin, as Tarzan is not seen again.

Final Mewsings: Cats don’t fool themselves into thinking movies like this have to make any sense.
