Synopsis: Jackie Mullens (Jo Kennedy) dreams of singing superstardom and her cousin Agnus (Ross O’Donovan) is an ambitious kid who thinks he can help launch her career in this creative Australian musical film.
Cat Cattle Call: Jackie and her cousin live with their family in a pub and boarding house. One of the people living there is Mrs. Booth (Melissa Jaffer) who owns numerous cats which are seen in the background throughout the film. The first time we see them is one morning in front of the pub. Mrs. Booth has placed some food out on the sidewalk and the cats have gathered there.
The five cats have eaten all the food and she proceeds to gather all of them up into her arms to take them inside to raid the fridge for more food.
Mrs. Booth pokes her head in through the window and then pushes four of the cats inside.
She then carries the last cat inside.
One of the cats is a tuxedo cat and this cat is seen in several scenes, most notably coming up to rub against Jackie when she’s on the phone.
Throughout the rest of the movie the cats are seen many times in the background in and around the pub.
Closer to the end of the film the family celebrates Christmas. Mrs. Booth has received a matching bracelet and collar in faux leopard fur for her and the tuxedo cat.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t worry about becoming famous.
