Synopsis: The superstitious Candy Williams (Doris Day) and the entertainment troupe she is with fall upon hard times, leaving them stranded in a hotel in Miami, Florida. But things start looking up when they have a chance to do a show with a noted songwriter (Robert Cummings).
Kitty Cameo: Candy is highly superstitious and goes out of her way to avoid anything which she thinks may bring her bad luck. So it’s no surprise when in one scene she is leaving the hotel and stops dead in her tracks as a black cat emerges from a nearby bush.
The cat stops in front of Candy, hesitating before completely crossing her path. Candy tries to shoo the cat into walking back the way it came.
Eventually the cat does turn around and Candy walks around it to avoid bad luck. Unfortunately she walks right into the path of Dick Carson, the songwriter’s, car, causing it to swerve and crash into a wall while Candy walks on, unaware of what she’s done.
Final Mewsings: Beautiful blondes bring about more bad luck than black cats!
