Synopsis: Sweeping story of an aristocratic family in Sicily during the time of Garibaldi and the way they deal with the changing politic landscape around them.
Kitty Cameo: In one early scene the patriarch of the family, Prince Don Fabrizio Salina (Burt Lancaster) takes a carriage to Palermo and heads to a whorehouse. The lady of the night who answers the door is holding a tuxedo kitten.
Purr Blur: At the end of the film, Prince Salina is walking home after the ball and sees a boy leading a priest down the street to give someone last rites. An orange and white cat can be seen near the building behind them.
In the final shot of the film, Prince Salina walks into an alley. The cat is standing close by until the Prince passes and then the cat runs into a doorway and emerges again just before the end.
Final Mewsings: Cats know where to hide when the revolution begins.
