Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)
Starring: The Marx Brothers, Margaret Dumont
Directed by: Sam Wood
Synopsis: A struggling sanitarium makes Dr. Hackenbush (Groucho Marx) its director to appease the wealthy Mrs. Upjohn (Margaret Dumont). What Mrs. Upjohn doesn’t know is that Hackenbush is actually a veterinarian. This comes in handy when the boyfriend of the sanitarium owner sinks his money into a race horse in the hopes of saving the institution.
Purr Blur: You really have to look sharp to spot the cat in this film. When we first see Dr. Hackenbush at his veterinarian offices the scene fades from the sign outside to the inside of his office. There are cages along the walls and on the far left upper cage you can just see a small kitten (or two!) for a second as the camera pans to the right.
Final Mewsings: Even quick kittens count!
