Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Wes Steele (Ray Milland) is a notorious gunfighter who is wrongly accused of killing the occupants of a stage coach and finds support from a Sheriff’s daughter (Mary Murphy).
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): Wes hides in a cellar during a sandstorm, hoping to elude the townspeople who are looking for him. While there he spies a mama cat and her seven kittens in a box on the floor.
Helping himself to some preserved peaches, Wes pours some of the juice in the cat’s bowl. The mama sniffs at the juice but doesn’t drink it.
The next morning Wes has been sleeping when Nadine Corrigan (Mary Murphy) comes down. She gives the cat some milk.
Nadine then picks up one of the kittens, talking aloud about what she can name them.
She picks up a second kitten as she finishes reciting the riddle about the man who was going to St. Ives which includes seven cats who each had seven kits.
Final Mewsings: Mama cats don’t need peach juice.
