Synopsis: A mini-series written by acclaimed dramatist Francis Durbridge. The director of an engineering company is murdered by a perfect stranger. Inspector Alan Milton (Gerald Harper), the former fiancé of the victim’s secretary, is put in charge of the case and finds the man she is about to marry, Harry Brent, clearly knows a lot more than he is willing to admit.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Receiving a message to meet a woman he wants to question at a flat in Richmond, Milton makes his way there. Inside the block of flats we see a man (John Horsley) climbing some stairs with a tuxedo cat in his arms.
He gently admonishes the cat, saying “I’ve been looking all over the place for you, Blackie,” continuing unconvincingly, “You’re a confounded nuisance… If I had any sense I’d tie a brick around that wretched neck of yours and throw you in the river.”
It’s at this point that Milton arrives and the man introduces himself as the head porter before directing Milton to the apartment he wants.
Final Mewsings: If Blackie ever goes missing we’ll know who is the most likely suspect!
