Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains a potentially MAJOR for this film!
Synopsis: Author John le Carré adapted the screenplay for this television film from his own novel in which former intelligence officer George Smiley (Denholm Elliott) investigates the murder of a woman connected with a boys’ school.
Kitty Cameo: In the beginning of the school, head master Terence Fielding (Joss Ackland) is seen addressing the boys in his room, which is decorated with tapestries and coverlets. Included in the room is a Siamese cat, which Fielding walks over and picks up.
Fielding then sits down, still talking to the boys, and holds the cat lovingly to his chest.
At the end of the film, Fieldings room is being stripped of its extra trappings. The cat is still in the room, as a man carries out a potted plant.
The man then closes the door behind him, leaving the room bare with the cat still inside!
Final Mewsings: Next time remove the cat *before* the accessories!
Many thanks to Ted Davis for letting us know about the cat in this telefilm.
