Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Three pals, Max (Tom Ewell), Gus (Mickey Rooney) and Rocky (Mickey Shaughnessy) are so determined to set themselves up with a race horse they resort to felonious means.
Kitty Cameo: Max runs a tire repair garage in which he also cares for numerous dogs and one ginger tabby cat.
The cat is usually hanging around somewhere in the garage with the dogs nearby.
As Max and Gus listen to the news about their bank robbery on the radio, a long-haired ginger tabby is sitting next to the radio. In the establishing shot the tabby was a shorthair, but the longhair was used in the close up, indicating it is supposed to be the same cat.
When Max and Gus go to the racetrack stables to care for their new horse, they leave a man named Pop (Charles Arnt) behind to care for the animals. Rocky finds the old man with the tabby cat on his lap.
Final Mewsings: No matter how many dogs you have there is always room for a cat!
Many thanks to Brian H. for letting us know about the cat(s) in this film!
