Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Saffron (Julia Sawalha) writes a play about her life which causes Edina (Jennifer Saunders) to rage when she finds out she is included.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): During the play the stage Saffron asks what has happened to her kitten, referring to one of the many incidents in her life involving her mother. At the end of the episode, Edina sneaks up behind Saffron and presents her with a new kitten to make up for the previous incident.
Saffron is tickled with the present. Edina feels it necessary to explain it is not the same kitten as the one she had previously.
Edina also warns Saffron not to show the kitten to Patsy (Joanna Lumley) in case she gets jealous, indicating something dire might happen.
According to online reports, Julia became so enamored of the kitten during shooting that Jennifer Saunders bought her a kitten of her own.
Final Mewsings: A kitten doesn’t make up for years of abuse, but it’s a start.
Many thanks to Stevie Holcomb for letting us know about the kitten in this episode.
