Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains a spoiler for this film!
Synopsis: Sid South (Christopher Neill) is a young jobbing plumber whose assignments usually land him in bed and/or hot water.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): As the camera pans around Sid’s untidy flat a tabby cat is sitting on a chair washing itself.
A mouse appears on the table investigating some uneaten food but, oblivious, the cat continues with its ablutions.
The mouse then crosses the floor to the bed where Sid and a young woman, Sally (Nina West), are asleep. This attracts the cat’s attention.
Interested, the cat jumps down off the chair and towards the bed.
Unbeknownst to the cat, the mouse has crawled up under the bed covers towards the sleeping Sally as the cat investigates under the bed.
Minor Kitty Carnage Warning! Awake and aroused (where exactly did that mouse go?!), Sally wakes Sid and encourages him to make love. Still underneath, the cat is now trapped by their weight and unable to escape the bouncing of the bed. The cat’s dubbed-in cries also coincide with Sally’s orgasmic squeals. (This might have been as amusing as intended if not for the fact that the cat is clearly being held back under the bed against its will as its being buffeted by the mattress, causing the poor kitty some distress.)
The cat finally extricates itself and beats a hasty retreat.
Final Mewsings: We should be grateful the cat wasn’t just there for a cheap “pussy” joke.
