Synopsis: Clark Kent (George Reeves) and Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson) visit a house where a society of businessmen blatantly defy common superstitions. But when the members start to have bad luck Clark suspects foul play and Superman is called in to action.
Featured Feline: When Clark Kent and Jimmy go to enter the house a beautiful long-haired black cat runs out of the front door across Clark’s path. Jimmy, who is superstitious, is very nervous but Clark does not believe in such things. The female black cat turns out to be the group’s mascot.
Later in the episode when Lois Lane (Noel Neill) suspects that Clark is on to a good story she convinces Jimmy to go to the house with her to investigate. As they are looking around she sees the cat sitting in the doorway. She reaches to pet the cat and it hisses and scratches at her. (Someone behind the half-closed door probably did something to make the cat react.)
Lois, Jimmy and Clark are locked in the basement by the bad guy. Clark knows who it is using Superman’s X-ray vision, and then later when they hear the cat crying out he sees through the walls that someone is brushing poison onto her claws.
With the police present, Clark gathers the members of the society and tells them that he has put catnip in the guilty person’s pockets and takes the cat around to sniff out the guilty party.
He approaches Charlie King (Carl Harbord), who backs away from the cat.
It’s clear that Mr. King is the guilty party! What he doesn’t know is that Clark wiped the poison off the cat’s claws earlier.
Final Mewsings: That cat was indeed lucky that she didn’t lick her paws with the poison on them!
