Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Bob Muldoon (Casey Affleck) becomes a fugitive after he escapes from prison and sets out to reunite with his wife and the daughter he has never seen.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): After Bob has gone to prison his wife Ruth (Rooney Mara) gives birth to their daughter Sylvie (played by twins Kennadie and Jacklynn Smith) and raises her alone. In one scene the little girl calls to her mother from across the lawn where she has found some abandonded kittens. Ruth holds a grey kitten up to her face to look at it.
In the next scene Ruth is holding the same kitten at the dinner table.
Later when Officer Patrick Wheeler (Ben Foster) comes by to give Ruth some news we see Sylvie trying to keep the kittens inside a cardboard box.
When Officer Wheeler enters the house he stops and asks Sylvie about the name of a ginger colored kitten. She answers the kitten’s name is Willow. The office eyes the kitten and says, “He looks more like a Jimmy to me.” In the kitchen, Officer Wheeler asks if Ruth needs a couple of the kittens taken off her hands. She assures him she is capable of taking care of them.
Later in the film it is Sylvie’s birthday and her mom makes her a cake. In one quick shot Sylvie is licking the bowl while a tabby kitten behind her sniffs at the beaters.
Final Mewsings: The kittens were trying to become fugitives from that box!
