Synopsis: Jimmy French (Robert Loggia) is a small-time criminal who picks up spinster Maude Sheridan (Barbara Baxley) in an automat. After falling for one another, Jimmy tells Maude that he owes a lot of money and asks her to show him some of the files from the psychoanalyst’s office where she works so he can blackmail a patient.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): The first time Jimmy sees Maude home to her apartment there is a longhair calico cat sitting on a chair.
Nervous about Jimmy’s intentions, Maude picks up the cat and holds her, using her as kind of a shield between them.
Jimmy asks for a beer and Maude gets him a can, still holding the cat.
Maude does not mention the cat’s name and the cat says nothing.
As they talk, Maude gets more comfortble with Jimmy. But when he moves closer to her, she lifts the cat to block him again.
Jimmy leaves after giving Maude a peck on the cheek and she quickly locks the door. The cat is not seen again.
