Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A starving cat comes across the home of a family of mice on Christmas Eve and decides to pose as Santa Claus to gain entrance to feast upon the adorable little rodents.
Cartoon Cat: The cartoon cat in this holiday entry from the animation team of Hugh Harmon and Rudolf Ising is the villain of the piece, but is shown freezing and starving in the first scene so it’s understandable why he would try to break into the home of the mice to have something to eat.
Less understandable is how easily he breaks into a toy shop and finds a doll-sized Santa suit to wear (why wasn’t he wearing it out in the snow then?)
Of course the adorable mice thwart the plans of the mean ol’ cat, as is typical in these cartoons. But if the cat had prevailed this would have been one dark Christmas cartoon!
Final Mewsings: You can’t blame a hungry cat for trying!
