Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: The crew of a commercial transport spaceship, the Nostromo, awaken to what they think is a distress signal coming from an unchartered area in space.  A team is sent to investigate and encounter an alien life form which is transported back to the ship and soon threatens everyone on board in this sci-fi classic.

Cinema Cat: Included in this incredible ensemble cast is Jones, an orange tabby (four cats were actually used for the shoot and were trained by Animals Unlimited.)  Jones is featured throughout the film, including being seen eating at the dinner table with the rest of the crew and then scurrying around the ship to pop out at the right moments to scare the bejeezus out of moviegoers or to lure Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) into dangerous parts of the ship to try to get him out.

Alien - Jones

In the DVD commentary, director Ridley Scott explained that he had a German Shepherd on the set (securely fastened with a leash, of course) behind a board which they lifted to get the reaction of Jones hissing.
