Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is recuperating from her terrifying encounter with the alien on the Nostromo when she is recruited by a rescue team being sent to discover the whereabouts of a missing colony which had settled on the same planet her previous crew had explored.

Cinema Cat: Jones the orange tabby cat who was last seen with Ripley in the suspended animation chamber, is found there with her at the beginning of this film.

As they are talking, Ripley starts to have spasms and Jones gets nervous and hisses.

Jones runs away from Ripley and hisses from a corner as Ripley screams, an alien popping from her chest.  On the DVD commentary director James Cameron explained that the common practice to get a cat to hiss onscreen is to bring a second, unknown cat close to the actor cat.

As it turns out this is all a dream and Ripley wakes up in another hospital bed with Jones by her side.

Jones is seen in Ripley’s apartment when Burke and a soldier come to try to talk her into going on an expedition to find out what has happened to the lost colonists.  After they leave Ripley kneels down to give Jones something to eat.

Ripley finally decides to go on the expedition and calls Burke.  When she is done, she turns to Jones and says, “And you, you little sh**head, are staying right here.”

Final Mewsings: We don’t think Jones minded sitting out this excursion too much.
