Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains a MAJOR spoiler for this film!
Synopsis: Nina Geld (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is a stand-up comedian who hides some deep rooted pain with raucous humor and deflection.
Kitty Cameos: While opening up about her traumatic past onstage, Nina mentions that the first time she was being violated by her father she was looking at her cat. Earlier in the film Lake (Kate del Castillo), the woman who offers Nina a place to stay while she is in Los Angeles, has some friends over and a cat sanctuary is mentioned. Near the end of the film, Nina, her boyfriend Rafe (Common), Lake, Smokey (Todd Louiso) and others visit the sanctuary and hold the kitties.
One woman asks Nina if the cat makes her feel better and she replies, “Yeah.”
The animals in the film were supplied by Studio Animal Services.
Final Mewsings: Cats always make us feel better.
