Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Christian Amann is an avid cat lover who sets out to have one of his cats impregnated to increase his little family.
Reality Cats: This short documentary follows Christian, a self-admitted cat lover from Switzerland who lives with his two grey Scottish Fold cats, Marmelade and Katyusha.
The cats are extremely calm, even when traveling with Christian. They often ride on his shoulders.
This is helpful because they have to journey to another country to mate Marmelade with an award-winning pedigree tom named Hector. Hector, ever the professional, gets right to business the moment Marmelade arrives.
We then follow Christian’s, Marmelade’s and Katyusha’s every day lives around their apartment . . .
. . . at a market . . .
. . . and even visiting a ski resort.
A trip to the vet and an ultrasound confirms that Marmelade is in the family way.
Christian is excited as the big day arrives and Marmelade has her kittens.
Quietly unassuming yet beautifully filmed, this fascinating short gives one a peek into the life of an extremely devoted cat owner.
You can follow the cats on their Instagram page.
Final Mewsings: Cats are more than cats, they are family.
