Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Stan (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) sets out to meet the pilot his wife Francine (voiced by Wendy Schaal) was previously in love with. Steve (voiced by Scott Grimes) tries to befriend a cat with horrific results.
Cartoon Cat: The subplot of the episode is Steve’s interest in a stray cat he sees across the street while walking to a cello lesson.
Kitty Carnage Warning! The cat begins to cross the street to meet Steve and is struck by a car.
Steve is horrified and tries to help but when he picks up the cat it scratches him like mad. Steve throws the cat down in anger and storms off.
Later Steve brings his friend Snot (voiced by Curtis Armstrong) who has brought a box. Snot finds the cat to be sweet and loving and places him in the box.
Steve has renewed hope that he and the cat, whom he has named Simon, will finally become friends. But the cat attacks him again.
Steve has a dream about his relationship with Simon if the accident had not happened. Many of the scenarios are parodying romantic moments.
At the end of the dream, Simon is on the back of a truck which pulls away.
When Steve has his cello recital, Simon shows up and appears to die. Steve waxes about how Simon really loved him in the end.
But Simon is not dead and viciously attacks Steve again. (Cat lovers should be aware that Steve really beats the crap out of Simon at this point).
At the end of the episode, Roger the alien (also voiced by Seth McFarlane) shows up wearing Simon on his head.
Simon lunges for yet another attack.
Final Mewsings: Unlike girlfriends, cats will make it clear when they are angry with you!
