Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is a metrosexual yuppie investment banker who harbors a passion for good restaurants, 80’s music and killing.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In the last third of the film Patrick is becoming more and more unhinged and the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred. In one scene he withdraws money from an ATM and looks down to see a tiny tabby kitten at his feet.
Patrick says, “Here, kitty kitty!” and reaches down to pick up the kitten, petting it briefly.
Looking at the ATM screen Patrick sees it reads “Feed Me a Stray Cat.” Patrick pushes the kitten towards the machine.
Patrick then pulls out a handgun and aims it at the kitten’s head. At this moment a woman (Joyce R. Korbin) approaches and demands that he stop. Patrick shoots the woman instead and tosses the kitten aside. According to the American Humane Association’s website the trainer was off-camera to catch the kitten.
Final Mewsings: Thank goodness for brave cat lovers!
