Synopsis: Returning by ferry from a holiday in Ireland, aspiring songwriter Peter Weston (Donald Sinden) shares a cabin with a drunken Irishman who disappears leaving Peter in charge of his pet alligator, Daisy. Fellow passenger, animal lover Moira O’Shannon (Jeannie Carson), catches Peter attempting to push Daisy overboard and insists that he treat her humanely. Having Daisy causes havoc in her new owner’s life and jeopardizes his relationship with his wealthy fiancée, Vanessa Colebrook (Diana Dors), but also leads to a burgeoning relationship with Moira.
Purr Blur: In her apartment, Moira sings the song ‘Midnight Madness’ and as she moves around the room we see she has a dog, birds, and fish, but a cat is conspicuous by its absence, that is until she moves across to the fireplace and on the mantelpiece is a framed photo of kitten, perhaps a cat she once owned?
Final Mewsings: Would you keep a photo of a random cat in such a prominent place?
