Synopsis: This unforgettable sweeping epic follows the life of the fifteenth-century Russian iconographer (Anatoliy Solonitsyn) during the tumultuous times of warring Princes and violent invasions.

Kitty Cameo: The aftermath of a particularly brutal attack by Tartars leaves Andrei and a simple-minded woman named Durochka (Irma Raush) sitting amidst the carnage in a church. A black cat appears in the foreground, surveying the devastating scene.
