Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Running from conscription into the Union Army during the Civil War, otherwise straight-laced Drew Dixon (Barry Brown) joins a group of ragtag deserters headed by the rascally Jake Rumsey (Jeff Bridges).
Kitty Cameo (with a Kitty Carnage Warning!): After being coerced into joining the group, Jake introduces Drew to the others: Loney (John Savage), Simms (Jerry Houser) and brothers Jim Bob (Damon Douglas) and Boog (Joshua Hill Lewis). As they approach, the brothers and Simms are in the act of tying some tin cans onto a poor tabby cat’s tail as Loney watches.
The cat is being roughly handled by the boys while letting out some intense Poor Cat Screeches (which we assume were dubbed in).
Jake throws a bottle to Boog who unceremoniously tosses the cat aside before taking a swig. The cat, with the cans still tied to its tail, runs off screen never to be seen again.
Final Mewsings: Drew should have run for the hills when he saw how these boys were treating that poor cat!
Many thanks to Aaron Shuster for letting us know about the cat in this film.
