Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains a major spoiler for this episode!

Synopsis: Captain Edmund Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) is desperate to find any means to escape from the trenches of World War I and Private Baldrick’s (Tony Robinson) atrocious cooking.  So he takes advantage of his subordinate Lieutenant George’s (Hugh Laurie) artistic talents hoping for a one-way ticket to Paris.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): At the end of the episode we realize that Blackadder, George and Baldrick have escaped from going over the top by posing as Italian chefs and cooking for General Melchett (Stephen Fry) and Captain Darling (Tim McInnery).  This ties back to jokes at the very beginning of the episode in which Blackadder details what each of Baldrick’s dishes tastes like, i.e. his cream custard tasting like cat’s vomit, which Baldrick essentially admits is the truth of the matter.  We leave the General and Captain anticipating their cream custard as the “cooks” arrive back in their trench.  Blackadder then delivers the classic final line, “One thing puzzles me, Baldrick.  How did you manage to get so much custard out of such a small cat?”  In fact we see Baldrick is holding the most adorable tiny tabby kitten in his arms.

Final Mewsings: Everyone knows an awful lot can come from even the tiniest cat!
