Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A young boy named Albert (Haley Joel Osment) has his life uprooted when his mother suddenly dies and he is sent across the country to live with a total stranger, a friend of his mother’s named Harriet (Whoopi Goldberg). But Albert takes comfort in his imaginary friend Bogus (Gerard Depardieu).
Kitty Cameo: In one scene, Harriet takes Albert with her when she shows her banker the warehouse full of equipment she would like to buy. When they enter the warehouse, a gray and white cat can be seen in the background behind Albert, eating something from the floor. Harriet warns Albert to “Leave that cat alone.”
As Harriet talks to the banker, Albert walks over and picks up the cat, which is quite big. He walks a few steps with the cat before spotting an old dilapidated soda fountain bar. The cat is forgotten and does not show up again for the rest of the film.
Final Mewsings: What’s more exciting? A pretend soda fountain or a real cat?
