Synopsis: Lurid crime drama follows medical examiner and novelist William Powell (Rutger Hauer) as he tries to find out the identity of a serial killer nicknamed Bone Daddy who takes personal offense at the book Powell published which supposed what would have happened had the killer been apprehended. Police officer Sharon Hewlitt (Barbara Williams) is assigned to try to help track down Powell’s missing agent.
Kitty Cameos: Hewlitt is at home when she hears a ridiculous amount of Poor Cat Screeches coming from outside. She looks down to see two cat bowls on the floor, both marked Oliver. She goes outside to look for the missing cat and spots two cats, a silver tabby and an orange and white bicolor, running down the path ahead of her.
Moments later she spots another silver tabby (or maybe the same one?) in a trash heap in the corner.
We can assume none of these cats is Oliver because she turns to keep looking. Suddenly she falls across the mutilated body of the agent. Yet another cat, again a silver tabby (he gets around!), is licking at the deceased man’s face. Whether or not this is supposed to be the elusive Oliver is never made clear and we never see or hear anything else about the cats.
The animal wrangler on the film was Jane Conway.
Final Mewsings: Cats get desperate when their food bowl is empty.
Many thanks to Mark Murton for letting me know about the cats in this film.
