Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Kip (Tom Hanks) and Henry (Peter Scolari) decide to splurge on some extravagant living after almost being killed in an elevator accident.
Kitty Cameos: Kip and Henry go to work at their commercial studio after escaping death. Along with Ruth (Holland Taylor) they are auditioning cats for a commercial they are going to make for Puss n Thin diet cat food. A long-haired orange cat named Mr. Whiskers is lying on a pillow as the scene opens.
Ruth insists the cat is not right for the part. When she goes to pick up the cat he is clinging to the pillow with his claws. Ruth gently removes the claws before taking Mr. Whiskers to a cage and thanking him for his audition and telling him they’ll be in touch with his agent. “Who’s that? William Morris the cat?” Henry asks.
Ruth next brings out a white cat with slight markings named Pansy. She notes that the boys are not taking the auditions too seriously. As they reflect on what has happened to them, Ruth asks Pansy if she thinks they are having an acid flashback.
Ruth admits that if Kip and Henry aren’t going to do any work there isn’t any point in their being there. Kip takes off to get naked on a cross town bus as Ruth calls after him.
Final Mewsings: Cats are grateful to have nine lives!
