Hal Roach Studios
Starring: Bobby ‘Wheezer’ Hutchins, Mary Ann Jackson, Dora Dean
Directed by: Robert F. McGowan
Synopsis: Wheezer is jealous of his new baby brother and attempts to take him to the hospital to trade him in for a goat.
Kitty Cameo: The tabby cat seen in previous short films returns here for a couple of quick shots. As the film opens in existing prints, a little baby is playing with a balloon that is tied to the cat’s tail. It’s unclear if there is missing footage that preceded this shot, since it seems a strange way to begin a short. In any case, we can assume Mary Ann is the one who tied the balloon to the cat’s tail to amuse her little brother while she checks on Wheezer.
Later in the film Wheezer makes himself some pancakes, accidentally using Plaster Paris instead of flour. Pete the pup sits beneath him, lapping up the spilling batter, and further into the scene we see the tabby cat is also under the table licking up some spills.
The cat is still in the background when Wheezer’s mother (Dora Dean) comes in to reprimand him.
Final Mewsings: Exactly who untied the balloon from the cat’s tail?
