Synopsis: Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler) is invited to a reclusive castle in the middle of the Mojave Desert where danger is afoot.

Purr Blur: At the beginning of the film a car arrives at the castle and a man named Professor Gleason (Lucien Littlefield) steps out. A black cat then appears and runs behind the man before disappearing for good.

Final Mewsings: Is it bad luck if a black cat walks behind you?
