Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A cat becomes caught up in an unfortunate chain of events in which chaos ensues around him in the space of a few minutes.
Cartoon Cat: The star of this film is poor Rodney the cat, who witnesses a series of bizarre accidents which all somehow implicate him. It starts out innocently enough with Rodney staring lovingly at a bird in a cage.
The owner of the home, a tough woman named Nel, grabs Rodney by the tail and scolds him for threatening the bird.
After Nel leaves, Rodney sees the bird lying apparently lifeless at the bottom on its cage. Rodney attempts mouth to mouth via a straw but slips and knocks a bunch of things over, including a box of rat poison which the dog is quick to eat.
The dying dog races around the apartment destroying everything and making Rodney look responsible. At one point the fish are even turned into sushi which lands in Rodney’s bowl!
Even Nel falls victim to the chaos when she returns home.
In the end it turns out Rodney was simply in love with the bird, but even then things go wrong.
A very funny piece which won the LAFA May Award at the Los Angeles Film Awards in 2019.
Final Mewsings: Sometimes cats are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
