Synopsis: A complex and beautifully filmed epic based on the novel by David Mitchell covering many different eras to paint a picture of how lives interconnect even over eras, and how crimes and kind acts carry on long past their time.
Kitty Cameo: In the storyline involving an elderly book publisher named Timothy Cavendish (Jim Broadbent), he recalls a scene earlier in his life in which he was making love to his girlfriend in her bedroom. A cat is sitting near the bed as he undresses. When her parents burst into the room unexpectedly he leaps out of bed, then realizes he is naked. He grabs the cat and holds it in front of himself to hide his private parts, which predictably turns out to be a very bad idea.
Kitty Carnage Warning! After the cat digs its claws in, he is throw across the room by the Young Cavendish, understandably. It’s pretty clear that CGI was used to create this shot, though.
Final Mewsings: Using dogs to cover up nudity worked for Steve Martin in The Jerk. Trying it with a cat . . . not such a good idea.
