Crime in the Streets (1956)

Directed by: Don Siegel

Synopsis: A social worker (James Whitmore) tries to get through to hoodlum kids running amok in the streets.

Purr Blur: Near the end of the film, Frankie (John Cassavetes), Angelo (Sal Mineo) and Lou (Mark Rydell) crouch in an alley in anxious anticipation of an impending event. After a moment of silence, there is a sudden crash of garbage cans which makes the boys jump. We see a ginger tabby cat roughly being catapulted by someone off screen into the top of a trash can, knocking off the lid.
