Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A group of honeymooning couples take a rocketship to the moon, but not everyone has a good time.
Cartoon Cats: As the happy animal pairs dance onto the rocket, a black cat groom and his white cat bride run to try to catch the departing ship. At one point the bride just lets her new husband pull her along.
The groom cat manages to get their bags and himself onto the rocket, but he cannot pull his bride up in time.
The rocket takes off and the bride shakes her fist and yells, “You left me behind on purpose, you alley cat!”
The black cat calls down to his wife, Whitey, that he’ll be back soon.
The poor groom cat suffers through the journey to the moon alone.
While other couples court and spoon, the cat plays solitaire.
Once on the moon itself, the other animal couples continue their romancing and dancing. The groom cat sits alone, playing Cat’s Cradle.
As the other couples dance happily, the groom cat solemnly spins in a dance by himself.
When the rocket returns to Earth, the couple are greeted by the stork who gives them their babies. The groom cat anxiously holds out his paws but the stork obviously has nothing for him.
If this isn’t bad enough, the bride races to meet him and proceeds to beat him up.
Final Mewsings: You can’t get kittens by playing solitaire.
Many thanks to Jon Kennedy and Mark Murton for letting us know about the cats in this animated short.
