Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Actress Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep) and writer Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn) are childhood friends and bitter rivals. When Madeline steals away Helen’s fiancé, plastic surgeon Ernest Menville (Bruce Willis), it sets off a chain of events in which each seeks revenge on the other by using any means to retain their former youthful beauty.
Kitty Cameo: Early in the film Helen is worried that Ernest is becoming interested in Madeline and will leave her. She is sitting on a couch with a tabby cat beside her as she expresses her concerns.
Cat Cattle Call: As she suspects, Ernest runs off and marries Madeline. When we next see Helen she is overweight and living in an apartment with countless cats.
One cat is even sitting in the cupboard with the cat food!
Helen watches a scene from one of Madeline’s movies in which the actress is murdered over and over.
She is still watching the movie as the police break in and drag her away. We don’t know what happened to the cats.
Final Mewsings: Cats can’t help it that crazy ladies love them!
