Also Known As: Cemetery Man
Directed by: Michele Soavi
Synopsis: In this atmospheric Italian horror-comedy, the guardian of the cemetery of the small Italian town of Buffalora, Francesco Dellamorte (a perfectly pitched performance from Rupert Everett), is employed to protect the town by destroying the corpses that for some unexplained reason keep rising from their graves. One day, he falls for a beautiful woman (Anna Falchi) whose husband has recently died, but their affair is tragically interrupted by the undead, sending Francesco into a tailspin of madness and misery.
Kitty Cameo: Dellamorte’s only company at the graveyard is his simpleton assistant Gnaghi (François Hadji-Lazaro), and one night while Dellamorte is consummating his relationship with the recently widowed woman on her husband’s grave, Gnaghi is in their ramshackle abode eating his evening meal when a cat approaches the window with a small cry.

Gnaghi looks towards the cat briefly, then returns to his food.

On another night, Dellamorte hears a noise outside and goes out to investigate, but finding it is just the same cat drinking water from a water feature he returns to the shack.

Final Mewsings: Every cemetery man should have a cemetery cat.
