Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The comic strip character again comes to life as Dennis (Justin Cooper) continues to cause grief to his neighbor Mr. Wilson (Don Rickles).
Featured Feline: Dennis’ nemesis, Margaret (Jacqueline Steiger) owns a long-haired white cat named Mr. Coodles whom she wheels around in a baby carriage.
Mr. Coodles is usually wrapped in a furry pink blanket and has hair ribbons that match Margaret’s. Margaret is continuously trying to win Dennis’ favor but is losing out to a tomboyish girl named Gina (Alexa Vega). Margaret confesses her fondness for Dennis to Mr. Coodles.
Late in the film Margaret convinces Dennis that she likes insects as much as Gina. Having won Dennis over, Margaret sets up a picnic for them. Mr. Coodles is present in the baby carriage.
Dennis’ friends set out to prove that Margaret doesn’t really like bugs and disguise Dennis’ dog Ruff (canine actor Treasure) as a kind of bee creature. When they reveal Ruff to Margaret and Dennis, Mr. Coodles gets scared and runs away.
Mr. Coodles is chased by Ruff into Mr. Wilson’s house where Ruff accidentally knocks Mr. Wilson out of the attic window.
Mr. Coodles was played by cat actor(s) Raleigh, trained by Tammy Maples. According to the Animal Humane Association who monitored the film the clothing the cat actor was wearing was all loose-fitting to be more comfortable and the dog was kept on a leash in scenes where the cat and dog were on set together.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t typically like to play dress-up.
