Synopsis: A solitary tree is happy with its life and offers to teach a cat how to be the same.
Cartoon Cat: The cat is thrown out of a wagon when introduced into the short.
The cat notices the tree and asks if it is completely alone. The tree is indifferent to its solitude and promises to teach the cat how to live happily by itself.
The cat observes as the tree shuns birds, frogs and bugs, giving them no shelter or shade.
When a storm hits, the cat cowers beneath the tree, which offers shelter with its branches.
As time passes, the cat sleeps happily in the tree, rests in its shade and even watches the moon.
When winter comes and the snows fall, the tree opens, providing the cat with a safe refuge.
In Spring the cat begins to leave. It is then the tree realizes it has learned more from the cat than the cat has from it.
This is a very beautiful story which needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Final Mewsings: We are more dependent on cats than they are on us.
